The echoes of the Chernobyl disaster are still present in the surrounding area. To ensure the safety of tourists, we choose officially approved routes with acceptable radiation levels to visit. Depending on the format of the tour, you will be able to visit incredible locations not found anywhere else in the world.
In this location time stopped exactly at the moment on April 26, 1986. After the explosion of the nuclear power plant, as a result of the fourth power unit destruction, the abandoned city of Pripyat, where the young population lived, turned into a city-ghost. Today, it's difficult to recognize the city streets, step by step yielding its territory to wildlife.
4 km away from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant there is the village of Kopachi, which received an enormous radiation dose. The houses are buried underground, so the settlement is buried as well for decontamination purposes.
Chernobyl and Pripyat are two different cities whose fate was terribly affected by the Chernobyl disaster. Only in Pripyat you can assess the scale of the tragedy as it is. Tourist trips to the mysterious city, located just 3 km from the nuclear power plant, remind shooting a movie about the apocalypse. An amusement park, a ferris wheel, abandoned hospitals, high-rise buildings – i's definitely worth seeing. While walking around the city, you are not allowed to enter the buildings because of their emergency condition.
The great Soviet-era structure is located not far from Chernobyl. The object was recognized until the accident at the nuclear power plant happened. The strategic radar Arc was designed to pre-detect missile launches during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the USA. A visit to the Chernobyl radar Arc, preserved in its original form after the disaster, is included in the official tour program.
The classified Chernobyl-2 facility occupies a large area with a checkpoint and several functional buildings. At that time, the command center was supplied with the most modern technology and equipment for tracking ballistic missiles at great distances. During the trip tourists can see equipped halls, posters with Soviet symbols, remnants of computer equipment and other interesting things.
This forest is one of the most interesting places for foreigners and local tourists. In the unique Red Forest a huge amount of flora and fauna has suffered as a result of the radiation powerful effects. Nowadays it's a home for wild animals. These days unusual vegetation growth phenomena are observed in the forest. In the Red Forest some pines once held a huge part of the radioactive particles and saved the lives of Pripyat inhabitants.
Tourist excursions to the nuclear power plant (tours inside chnpp) are now allowed and conducted officially. The territory of the strategic importance object is gradually being restored at the moment. The radiation level is within the normal range, so active work has been carried out here since 2010. In 2017, the construction of a "Shelter" - new safe confinement for the fourth power unit of the nuclear power plant, explosed in 1986, was completed with funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The tour to the Chernobyl exclusion Zone includes a visit to the infamous village of Kopachi. The small settlement was only 3.8 km away from the reactor, so it was severely affected by radiation. It made no sense to leave the houses and buildings because of unsafety, and the village was completely buried underground. The former residents of Kopachy, who were the first to be evacuated from accident scene, have forever lost hope of returning home to their former lives.
On May 1, 1986, the grand opening of a large amusement park was supposed to take place in Pripyat. But the Chernobyl tragedy disrupted these plans. Nowadays, the amusement park is one of the most popular places to visit in Pripyat during a group and individual tour of the Chernobyl exclusion zone. This is tacit evidence of the scale of the event.
Until these days, yellowed holiday banners, posters, and faded signs have been preserved in the the park area. The most interesting place for tourists here is the Ferris wheel, which is still working properly.
Another place on the route is the cooling towers near the reservoir. The difficult and massive structures were incompleted before the explosion. The cooling towers in the exclusion zone reflect one of the most serious humanity's mistake. Tourists are given the opportunity to look at the objects from the inside and see how much the state of large-scale structures has changed over the past 30 years.
The New Safe Confinement (NSC) is a modern facility in the exclusion zone, included in the program of the exclusion zone tour. An arched structure with a height of 109 meters rises above the sarcophagus, protecting the surrounding area from dangerous emissions. The construction must be seen by all means. This multi-functional design of 19 structures helps to track the processes within the complex.
Before booking a tour to the exclusion zone you should read the format of the tour. The trip is allowed to persons from 18 years old. We are ready to arrange an exciting trip even for tomorrow. The territory of the exclusive zone is quite extensive, and places of interest are located at a great distance from each other.
